Iain Forbes, Dog Show Manager and Ian Duncan, Dog Show Chief Steward, have given us an overview of the Companion and Open Dog Show.

“The Turriff District Agricultural Association Open Dog Show consists of 153 classes broken down into 7 groups which are judged by 6 judges. Each dog has been pre-entered into its class as per the schedule. The judge will judge the dogs against their kennel club breed standard.

All the dogs at the Open Show on the Sunday will be kennel club registered. Any dog can enter the Monday Companion Dog Show and does not need to be kennel club registered.

For the Open Show class winners compete for Best of Breed, all group Best of Breed winners compete in their respective group for Best in Group. All seven Best in Group winners compete for Best in Show. Judges enjoy testing their breed knowledge against the breed standards and many judges travel all over the UK and Abroad.

Exhibitors will come from all over Scotland to enjoy Turriff Show particularly enjoying the friendly atmosphere, quality competition and large rings which are beautifully prepared.”
